33 Years of Export Excellence: Wuxi High Mountain's Journey from Chloroacetic Acid Pioneer to Global Specialty Chemical

June 22, 2026
In 1992, a small export team in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, loaded a container of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) onto a ship bound for Southeast Asia. It was one of the first Chinese chloroacetic acid export shipments — and the beginning of what would become a 33-year track record in international chemical trade.

Today, Wuxi High Mountain Hi-tech Development Co., Ltd. ships over 50 SKUs across 6 product lines to more than 80 countries, with flagship products that set purity benchmarks in their respective categories. But the numbers only tell part of the story. What makes this company distinctive is how it got here — and what it learned along the way.

1992: The Chloroacetic Acid Foundation

China's chemical export industry in the early 1990s was in its infancy. Regulatory frameworks were still forming, international logistics networks were fragmented, and foreign buyers were skeptical of Chinese product quality.

The team that would later become Wuxi High Mountain focused on a single product category: chloroacetic acid and its derivatives. It was a strategic choice. MCA was — and remains — a critical intermediate for agrochemical synthesis, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) production, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Demand was global, but reliable supply was not.

By consistently delivering MCA with controlled dichloroacetic acid (DCA) content and full documentation, the team built a reputation that spread by word of mouth across Asian and Middle Eastern markets. Chloroacetic acid became — and remains — the company's signature product line. Today, Wuxi High Mountain is recognized as China's leading exporter of chloroacetic acid series products, including MCA, SMCA (sodium chloroacetate), methyl chloroacetate, and ethyl chloroacetate.

2014: Restructuring and the Birth of Wuxi High Mountain

In 2014, the export team underwent a strategic restructuring, formally incorporating as Wuxi High Mountain Hi-tech Development Co., Ltd. The new entity brought together decades of export experience under a modern corporate structure, with ISO certifications, systematic quality management, and a broader product vision.

This was not a fresh start — it was a scaling up. The relationships, the logistics expertise, and the quality systems that had been built over 22 years of exporting were now embedded in a company designed to grow. The official founding date is 2014, but the operational heritage traces back to 1992 — a distinction that matters to buyers who value track record over incorporation dates.

The restructuring also gave rise to Vicmax Industrial, a parallel brand serving distinct market segments under the same ownership. Together, the two brands expanded the group's reach across organic peroxides, textile auxiliaries, chemical additives, polymers, and agricultural fertilizers.

2023: The Hanlan Chapter — Textile Auxiliaries Deep Dive

As the product portfolio expanded, it became clear that textile dyeing and printing auxiliaries deserved dedicated focus. In 2023, the group launched Hanlan (瀚澜) , a sub-brand operating through highlightco.cn, to serve the textile industry with specialized reducing agents, dyeing auxiliaries, and printing chemicals.

Hanlan's flagship product, Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate (SFS/Rongalite) , leverages the same purity-first philosophy that drove High Mountain's MCA success: ≥99% purity, consistent particle size, and full TDS/SDS/COA documentation for every batch. The brand also covers zinc formaldehyde sulfoxylate (ZFS), formic acid (textile grade), CMC for printing paste, DTPA chelating agents, and oxalic acid for textile bleaching.

This vertical specialization — rather than trying to be everything to everyone — is a pattern that repeats across the High Mountain group. Each brand focuses on what it does best, while the shared export infrastructure handles logistics, compliance, and documentation.

The Purity Philosophy: Why Specifications Matter

Over three decades of international trade, one lesson has been reinforced with every shipment: in specialty chemicals, purity is not a marketing claim — it's a commercial differentiator.

Wuxi High Mountain's product portfolio includes multiple grades that meet or exceed the highest industry benchmarks:

表格

Product Purity Grade Industry Significance
Para-Dichlorobenzene (PDCB) ≥99.9% Industry-top grade; isomer contamination <0.05%
Propylene Oxide (PO) ≥99.95% Industry-top grade; critical for polyurethane and PG synthesis
Epichlorohydrin (ECH) ≥99.9% Industry-top grade; low 3-MCPD content
Oxalic Acid ≥99.8% Ultra-high purity; pharmaceutical-grade available
SFS/Rongalite ≥99% High-purity reducing agent for textile and pharma

These specifications are not aspirational targets — they are guaranteed by a quality management system backed by ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications, and verified through in-house QA/QC protocols including GC/HPLC testing for high-purity products.

Every shipment is accompanied by a complete documentation package:

  • TDS (Technical Data Sheet) — full specifications, physical properties, and handling parameters
  • SDS (Safety Data Sheet) — GHS-compliant, available in 10+ languages
  • COA (Certificate of Analysis) — batch-specific test results

For buyers managing regulated supply chains — whether in pharmaceutical manufacturing, food-grade applications, or export to REACH-compliant markets — this documentation infrastructure is not optional. It's a prerequisite.

33 Years of Dangerous Goods Logistics: The Invisible Competency

Chemical purity wins orders. Logistics competency delivers them. For 33 years, Wuxi High Mountain has specialized in shipping products that most logistics providers prefer to avoid:

  • Class 5.2 Organic Peroxides (BPO, DTBP, TBPB, DCBP, MEKP) — temperature-controlled, with proper segregation and documentation
  • Class 8 Corrosives (MCA, SMCA, formic acid, oxalic acid) — specialized packaging, labeling, and stowage
  • Class 9 Miscellaneous (PDCB, ECH, PO) — flammable and toxic hazard management

The company's in-house logistics team manages the full chain:
